Free Downloadable Worksheet for Therapists to Help Clients Recognize and Rank Their Forms of Abundance
Abundance is often misunderstood as money alone, but true abundance is much broader. It is the state of having a plentiful amount of something that adds value to your life. While many people focus on financial success, there are several forms of abundance that shape our overall wellbeing and fulfillment.

STEP 1 Begin your session with an affirmation:
“Those who know enough is enough will always have enough”
Spend 3-5 minutes discussing the patients interpretation of the affirmation.
Step 2: Invite patients to go over the definition of abundance.

1. a very large quantity of something."the tropical island boasts an abundance of wildlife"
the state or condition of having a copious quantity of something; plentifulness.
Step 3: Invite patients to guess different types of abundance, then go over the five you will cover in the session.
Spend 3-5 minutes discussing the patients interpretations of abundance.
Five Types of Abundance
-Money-
-Time-
-Relationships-
-Knowledge-
-Health-
Step 4: Go over pros and cons of each type of abundance with patients.
This activity helps patients recognize that money is not the only form of abundance worth prioritizing. The goal is to explore the pros and cons of each type of abundance, identify which ones best align with the patient’s values and life goals, and consider ways to maintain balance. Too much time can lead to laziness or distraction, too much money can foster greed, too many relationships may prioritize quantity over quality, too much knowledge can feel overwhelming or create indecision, and too much focus on health can foster identifying value based on appearance. This encourages patients to reflect on how to cultivate each type in a balanced, meaningful way.
Spend 3-5 minutes discussing the pros and cons of money.
MONEY: What are the pros and cons of having money?

Pros: Provides financial security, access to healthcare, bills and expenses are covered, education, luxury experiences.
Cons: Can’t buy deep relationships, free time, or guaranteed happiness.
Discussion: From the list above, what other form of abundance do you think many wealthy people desire the most? Why?
(Wealthy people may desire more free time due to long work hours or better quality relationships due to people who only value you them based off their worth.)
Spend 3-5 minutes discussing the pros and cons of time.
TIME: What are the pros and cons of having time?

Pros: Allows quality rest, exploring hobbies, and flexibility to spend with friends and family.
Cons: Without time management, having too much free time can lead to laziness, procrastination, and scattered focus. People may drift from one task to another without completing anything meaningful, and miss opportunities for growth.
Discussion: From the list above, what other form of abundance do you think many people who have time desire the most? Why?
(People with too much time may desire purpose often in the form of a career due to being unemployed, retired, or feeling like they are meant to create something meaningful.)
Spend 3-5 minutes discussing the pros and cons of relationships.
RELATIONSHIPS: What are the pros and cons of having relationships?

Pros: Support, guidance, companionship, sense of belonging, collaboration.
Cons: Defining your value based off external validation. Pleasing parents, pleasing our partners, pleasing our friends. Can cause stress, require energy, create dependence, or end unexpectedly, quantity vs quality.
Discussion: From the list above, what other form of abundance do you think many people who have relationships desire the most? Why?
(People with too many relationships or have large families may desire more time or health due to devoting their time and energy into other people's needs versus investing time back into themselves.)
Spend 3-5 minutes discussing the pros and cons of knowledge.
KNOWLEDGE: What are the pros and cons of having knowledge?

Pros: Access to learn and do many things. Can start a business without a formal degree (YouTube University, online courses, mentorship). Enhances problem-solving, decision-making, and deep understanding of the world and it’s long history.
Cons:Too much knowledge can feel overwhelming or burdensome. Knowing possibilities without acting can create stress or indecision.
Discussion: From the list above, what other form of abundance do you think many people who have knowledge desire the most? Why?
(People with too much knowledge may desire health since the more you know, the more mentally challenging it is to process truths and realities of the world and society. They may also spend their time learning and reading versus going for walks or participating in physical activities.)
Spend 3-5 minutes discussing the pros and cons of health.
HEALTH: What are the pros and cons of having health?

Pros: Without your health, you can’t do much of anything. Being healthy allows you to be active, go for a walk, work toward goals, exercise, and enjoy life.
Cons: Being healthy also comes with responsibilities such as going to work, managing daily obligations, and maintaining routines. Some people even wish for a “sick day” just to rest. Some become obsessed with their physical appearance if they pursue fitness on a serious level. The self value shifts to how they look.
Discussion: From the list above, what other form of abundance do you think many people who have health desire the most? Why?
(People with too much health may desire knowledge to seek self-acceptance and learning to appreciate themselves from the inside if at any point they notice a shift in their body externally. Balancing health with connection and self-compassion helps cultivate coping with health issues that arise with age, disabilities, or injuries).
Step 5: Help patients organize their abundance list.
Spend 3-5 minutes guiding patients to reflect on the pros and cons of each type of abundance, and then rank them in order of personal importance from most to least.
At Present, I currently am abundant in:
___Money ___Time ___Relationships ___Knowledge ___Health
At Present, I currently want to focus on building my abundance in:
___Money ___Time ___Relationships ___Knowledge ___Health
My Abundance List from most important to least important is:
1.____________________________
2.____________________________
3.____________________________
4.____________________________
5.____________________________
What is one action I can take to begin prioritizing my most important form of abundance?________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
What is one action I can take towards prioritizing my second most important form of abundance?
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Money Examples:
Reading or listening to the audio book of Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki - Free on YouTube
Create an updated resume following professional examples available on Google.
What is one digital product I can make that is sellable? (E-books, journals, cards, audio book, etc.)
Time Examples:
Keep phone conversations limited. Ask if the conversation can be done over text so you can spend time resting or doing a restful activity.
Give yourself one long weekend a month. Take on Friday off a month so you can have a 3 day weekend to rest or do something you enjoy.
Explore job opportunities that offer more time or better quality of life. Even if you’re currently employed, there may be roles with more flexibility that better support your priorities. Don’t hesitate to apply for positions that align with the kind of abundance you want to create in your life.
Relationship Examples:
Write a letter to someone you want to build or maintain a healthy relationship with.
Put their birthday in your calendar so you stop forgetting.
Plan the trip and put it on the calendar. Choose a date, even if it’s months away, for the trip you’ve been talking about. When it’s not scheduled, it’s easy to let work, routines, or lack of planning get in the way. Setting a date makes it real and gives you something to look forward to.
Knowledge Examples:
List a skill you’d like to learn by following YouTube Expert (Photography, writing, marketing, etc.).
List three books you’d like to listen to or read this year about a skill or topic.
Volunteer or find internships in your local community that will teach you on the job skills.
Health Examples:
Buy a journal to keep track of your thoughts and feelings for your mental health.
Go for 30 minute walks a few times a week after eating.
Use a water bottle with measurements to track your daily intake and stay consistent with hydration.
Step 6: Go over answers and first actions the patients would like to take.
By exploring the pros and cons of money, time, relationships, knowledge, and health, patients can reflect on which types of abundance align most closely with their values and goals.
Organizing and ranking these priorities encourages intentional decision making and balance, helping clients identify practical first steps to nurture each area. Whether it is taking action to improve relationships, develop a skill, manage time effectively, or maintain physical and mental health, this exercise empowers clients to make mindful choices that create a more meaningful and well-rounded life. It allows them to make decisions based on "Will this action help me prioritize my goal of giving myself more money, time, relationships, knowledge, or health?"
