The Atlantean civilization was an descendant civilization from an ancient group known as the Lanteans. The Lanteans originated from the planet Lantea in the Pegasus constellation, specifically the Einstein Cross near the Huchra’s Lens Galaxy. They were known as space wanderers who placed a high value on research and technology. The Earth project greatly intrigued them, so they sent volunteers to incarnate on Earth as what would eventually become known as the Atlanteans.
The name Atlantean was implemented by placing “At” in front of their ancestral name, Lantean, translating to “At Last Land” or “The Land People” since their civilization was not built on land, but in the sky of Lantea. The Atlantis Capitol was made as a mini representation of their floating city to celebrate their success in finally grounding a faction of Lanteans on Earth.
It was agreed their adaptation to land would be overseen by Poseidon. A Greek god and Lemurian Sea diety to humans, but also the equivalent of a high ranking Lantean Council official. Unfortunately, what was intended to be a successful experiment in space exploration and settlement eventually grew into a battle over land territory.
The Atlanteans were warned the large island (bigger than North Africa and Asia Minor combined) did not ultimately belong to them. However, after generations from the 10 kings of the Atlantean territories, the descendent rulers began abusing their power, and even challenged Poseidon himself that they were also gods. This was partially due to mixing toxic human bloodlines with the Rh-negative royal line of Poseidon. The more human DNA entered the generations, the more the human thirst for power and greed developed within the island’s great experiment.
The fall of the continent sized island became their fate. Poseidon decided to drown the island, nearly ending a complete line of his offspring along with its capitol city Atlantis. A consequence for challenging the authority of Poseidon and battle over each other's territories. Poseidon's intention was to eliminate the Atlantean outpost and report to the Lantean Council that their incarnated descendants were not worthy of continuing the Earth experiment.
However, some very small groups of Atlanteans survived. One is now known as the Basque people, another faction is the Teäns.
The Teän survivors did not live in the Capital of Atlantis, but in the northern region of the Atlanean nēsos or island, which again was the size of a continent according to Plato.
The Teäns managed to swim to the surface, searching for anything that could keep them afloat. They drifted for days, exhausted and injured, slowly making their way toward a distant small island for refuge. Many did not survive great swim, and even some of those who did were left with a question they could not easily answer. Were they meant to live, or had Poseidon intended for them all to die while stranded?
Their civilization did not believe in the idea of being chosen to live because they practiced rituals where being sacrificed to the Gods was considered an honor. Those who chose to swim toward land feared their elders and their ancestors would call them cowards. To the ones who honored the old ways, dying with Atlantis was more honorable than abandoning their beliefs. Some survivors changed their minds and willingly disappeared beneath the water with the city, choosing their faith over survival.
Poseidon was angered by these survivors and was determined to eliminate them. But those who reached the small island began to wonder if survival had been given to them for a reason. They gathered a council and debated whether they should join their dead in the ruins beneath the water. A stubborn few saw their survival as an opportunity to question the belief, knowing that although Poseidon was their Grandfather God who’s ultimately oversaw their fate, other Gods existed that believed in redemption and forgiveness.
They decided to call upon Poseidon to ask whether they could correct the mistakes of their ancestors and redeem their civilization. Because particular Atlantean faction did not come from the capital city itself, but a distant part of the island that demonstrated more honor and integrity to live within in the Earth experiment as the Lantean ancestors intended, Poseidon reconsidered. Although their faction had its own problems, the sun god Apollo convinced Poseidon that this group did demonstrate potential for redemption, and their particular territory was the most peaceful of the 10 Atlantean territories given to Poseidon's 10 sons.
Poseidon reluctantly agreed, even though he wanted to all Atlanteans in the sea with the destroyed city. Thus, his offer came with a catch, if this faction wanted to be spared, they would have to return to the water, not to die, but to evolve within it. They must learn to swim from their stranded island to not only site of their home destruction, but eventually the city of Atlantis itself. This meant they would have to learn how to swim great distances, hold their breath for longer periods, and eventually develop physical resistance to dive into the deep waters to reach their village, and eventually the ruins of the capitol city of Atlantis.
This deal was known as “Poseidon’s Punishment.” These survivors would pay a steep price of karma that would take generations to pay off in exchange for their lives. The agreement would turn them into an entirely new civilization with an entirely new name.
At first, the journey to their home ruins took over an hour to swim. The post Atlantean survivors had to build their stamina before they could even reach the site. Every day they swam a little farther. They created a floating marker from light wood, eventually turning it into a small platform where they could rest, breathe, drink water, and store supplies. Their strongest swimmers carried water and other necessities to it.
Eventually they abandoned the name Atlanteans because it had become a negative stain on their history. Instead, they adopted their ancient name, the Lanteans, in hopes that once their debt was finally paid, they would be permitted to reincarnate back to their home planet, Lantea, in Pegasus.
Once reaching their home ruins became possible, the real challenge began. They had to learn how to descend into the depths where ancestors rested. There was no way the human body should have been able to survive those depths, but they adapted slowly. Every day they went a little deeper. What began as a punishment became their way of life. Eventually, they turned the dives into ceremonies, competitions, and celebrations. Their strongest swimmers became warriors of the deep, capable of reaching depths that once would have killed them.
Over generations, their bodies began to change. Their DNA evolved. Their legs grew longer. Their hands and feet became more webbed. They adapted to the cold, their blood changed, and even their skin evolved. Their hair grew unusually long and became useful underwater, almost like rope. The water itself seemed to be changing them.
As generations passed, the survivors became increasingly connected to the sea. They became extraordinary fishermen, not only from boats but by hunting beneath the surface themselves. Some developed bonds with the creatures of the water. Others fell in love with life beneath the sea. They eventually evolved to a physical point they could swim to city of Atlantis as Poseidon demanded.
Once they arrived they saw ruins aged by time and water, but did not hesitate to honor their dead. They built a great coral wreath and over time, as generations came and passed, their dead were placed at the reef, turning their underwater resting place into something beautiful and symbolic.
The ruins of Atlantis became a maze beneath the water. They tried to rebuild parts of the city, returning it to its legendary circular shape and eye. However it would still take generations before their bodies could fully adapt to living a full life beneath the sea as the first mer people.
Centuries passed, and the people of Atlantis spent most of their lives in the water. Land became unfamiliar and increasingly uncomfortable. Then outsiders began appearing. They were noisy, aggressive, and seemed to arrive with the same greed that had destroyed the civilization before them. The Lanteans noticed that these newcomers wore red, while their own people had become a people of blue.
They faced another choice. They could defend their territory, or they could retreat farther into the water as Poseidon had instructed. In the end, they understood the deeper meaning of the test. Their ancestors had created the original problem through greed. Now they were being given the opportunity to prove that they had learned their lesson to return to the stars. They abandoned their stranded island to join the life below the water, and allowed the “Red people” to take it over.
They embraced a new name for their civilization. They knew their ancestors were Lanteans, (people of the sky), and Atlanteans, (people of the land,) but they were now people of the water, and called themselves the Teäns.
They evolved into what civilizations would later describe as sirens, mermaids, and other beings of the sea. There was no single form as some became half human and half fish. Others took forms resembling seals, whales, crabs, or other creatures of the water. Their bodies reflected whatever form resonated with their souls.
Some Teäns reincarnated as sea animals to support their descendants living in their home site under the water, while others swam to the destroyed city of Atlantis to aid in its repairs as an underwater civilization. Others established under water colonies between the stranded Teän island and the city of Atlantis. These smaller underwater colonies supported travelers swimming back and forth during the migration seasons. Poseidon had granted the Teän mer people permission to spread throughout the waters as long as they remained connected to the sea.
The Teäns remained bound to the water, but centuries later the city of Atlantis itself eventually resurfaced. The sea levels changed and the Teäns were faced with yet again another major decision. The Lantean Councils convinced Poseidon offer the Teän descendants a choice. Being the land had resurfaced through forces beyond their control, the Council and God decided the Teäns had technically payed their karmic debt. For the first time in thousands of years, they were finally free to choose their new fate.
Poseidon release them from his punishment, and gave them a choice to readapt and evolve back to a land people of Earth, remain an underwater civilization under his protection, or reincarnate off of Earth to join their Lantean ancestors.
Some Teäns returned to land life reincarnating as animals, plants, and eventually humans again. They were given a second chance to prove that they were worthy of becoming part of the Earth experiment and represent Lantean society with a new face.
Some Teäns remained beneath the water, changed by centuries of evolution to a point they were unrecognizable as humanoids. The only familiar Lantean, Atlantean and Teän feature remaining is their eyes.
Others chose to leave Earth. After thousands of years of Poseidon’s Punishment, they felt Earth was simply a planet they did not belong, and wished to begin the process of returning to their home planet in Pegasus. To do this would take their souls several lifetimes of adapting to higher frequencies, but to them the ability to not have to reincarnate on Earth by force was worth the work.
The Lantean Councils welcomed them with a great honor, and each Teän who returned was awarded their very own planet to build their own paradise within the Local Galaxies of Pegasus. As long as they consistently demonstrated strong and healthy leadership abilities, they would become the new Gods of their planets for ages to come. A reward for continuing to pay off a debt they had no active part in, but remained loyal to the Poseidon’s Punishment, in good faith their karmic debt would eventually be paid.
